    - Racing redefined.



    Introduction

    Bored participating in the usual ROBOTICS events like Robosoccer, Line follower, and Sumo-wrestling…….????? Wanna think different……???

    Then it’s the time for you to blow the dust off your cap and pack for CROSSROADS’09…..Charge yourself for “TORCENTE”.

    As robocraze becomes more intense… at CROSSROADS’09, we go a step ahead by doing something way crazier like TORCENTE - Remote Controlled Car Racing….. An event entirely new to the south….here we provide you with a platform to showoff your talents, control skill and an opportunity to compete against the best in the country………

    As the countdown begins…… the pulses start racing…… hearts start beating faster….adrenaline starts pumping…… and the wheels are set on the go….. expect a track packed full of hazards, dangers , and adventures……. Ensure that u have the quality to survive till the end…..!!!

    General rules and regulations

  • Each team can comprise a maximum of 4 members of which only two can operate the bot.
  • Intentional damage to the track in any manner will lead to penalty or even disqualification. But accidents that may occur during the race can be excused.
  • Participating teams should send a mail to the coordinators on or before February 17, 2009, 11:00 pm. You should specify your college, team members, and frequency of Remote Control used. We will be sending you an approval mail if your frequency is not being used by any of the other registered teams. Else you will have to change the frequency of your RC. Frequency allocation criteria will be-“First come, first served”.
  • Once registered, an alteration in frequency is not allowed.
  • Only teams who have got the approval letter for your frequency will be allowed to participate in the race.
  • Organizers will not be responsible for any sort of damage to participant’s bot during the race or otherwise.
  • Queries of any sort are to be clarified before coming for the event.
  • Visit our website frequently for any updates, notifications, or modifications regarding the event.
  • The judges’ decision will be final and abiding.
  • Frequency interference or frequency hijacking of opponents bot, in any form is not allowed and if found guilty at, will be eliminated from the race.

    Bot specifications

    The Bot should not exceed the dimension of -40cm*30cm*30cm (l*b*h)
    The bot should be manually operated through a wireless remote control whose frequency must be registered with and approved by the coordinators on or before February 15, 2009.
    Retractable projections are allowed, which may exceed the specified dimensions.
    The bots can have any weapons or mechanisms, for toppling, hitting, or pushing the opponent’s bot. But use of jet packs, explosives, or chemicals are not allowed. Any mechanisms other than specified, if used must be informed to the organizers via mail.
    At any instant, the electrical supply in any part of the bot should not exceed 12V.
    No AC supply will be provided during the race.
  • Some suggestions

    Use a four wheel drive to run on an off road track.
    Keep one battery in reserve.
    Use proper tracked wheels.
    Use a motor that have both torque and speed.
    Don’t increase the weight too much. It may slow down the bot in slopes.


    The Race
    The race is divided into 3 stages –
    - Xotica.
    - Xpeditia.
    - Xpello.


    Xotica

    - In this round the prime concern will be aesthetics.
    - Each team will have 5 minutes to present their entry to the judges and the audience.
    - Points will be awarded for innovative designs, quality of construction and visual appeal.


    Xpeditia
    - The prime concern will be for speed and accuracy.
    - 4-6 bots will race on a straight track approximately 30m long.
    - Bots should move only in their allotted tracks.
    - Clashes with other bots are not allowed in this round.
    - If any bot moves out of the allotted track, then the distance traveled by the bot will be the distance measured from the point where the bot crosses the track line to the starting point.
    - This round may act as an elimination round, depending upon the number of participants and as decided by the coordinators.




    Xpello

    - This is a round where “only the fastest and the nastiest” survives at the end.
    - The prime objective is to some how expel your opponents.
    - You will be required to run on the circuit, filled with full of hazards and obstacles.
    - To maintain the suspense of the event, the track will be revealed to the participants only some hours before the commencement of the race.
    - In this round bots can hit with each other, push the opponent’s bot out of track or disorient them.
